Gary Neville has explained why he wants change to be implemented after watching the Carabao Cup final between Arsenal and Manchester City. The Gunners and City were going head-to-head at Wembley Stadium with the first major trophy of the season up for grabs.

During the first half, City fans began booing as Arsenal star Declan Rice prepared to take a throw-in toward the opposition penalty area.

Neville was commentating on the game and claimed that the reason for the boos was due to the amount of time being taken by Arsenal to take the throw-in.

The Manchester United legend took the opportunity to issue a message calling for change to be implemented to reduce the amount of time allowed for set-pieces.

"There are boos from the City fans, I think something is going to have to change," Neville said while on commentary for Sky Sports.

"Not because of Arsenal, this is happening up and down the country, but the amount of time being taken on set-pieces is too much."

The first half between Arsenal and City would end goalless at Wembley, with neither team having many clear opportunities to open the scoring in the final.

Mikel Arteta made two changes to the Arsenal team that beat Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League on Tuesday night, with one enforced due to injury.

Eberechi Eze was ruled out for Arsenal for the final due to injury, which saw Arteta name Viktor Gyokeres in the starting line-up to lead the line for the Gunners.

Kepa Arrizabalaga was also selected to start in goal for Arsenal in place of David Raya, having been the Gunners' regular shot-stopper throughout the Carabao Cup this season.

City also had some injury and selection concerns of their own, with Ruben Dias ruled out of the clash against Arsenal with a hamstring injury.

Marc Guehi was also ruled out for City due to being ineligible to feature in the match, having not been registered by the club before the start of the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup back in January.

Josko Gvardiol was also unavailable for City due to a knee injury that has kept the versatile defender on the sidelines since January.
