Devotees worship Goddess Durga and keep fast during the nine days of Navratri. Consuming sago and buckwheat is common during this period, but eating the same type of food can lead to boredom. In such a situation, it is good to try making something new and healthy. Sama rice upma is a great and nutritious option during this fast. It can be made with less ghee and plenty of vegetables, making it tasty and healthy. Let us know its simple and quick recipe.
How to prepare Sama Rice Upma?
– First of all take half cup of sama rice.
– Wash them thoroughly and soak them in water for 15-20 minutes.
– After this, heat one spoon of desi ghee in a pan.
– Add some cumin seeds and fry.
– If you consume green chillies and ginger during the fast, then add finely chopped chillies and grated ginger.
Then add raw peanuts or cashew nuts and fry.
– Add fasting vegetables of your choice.
– After lightly frying the vegetables, add soaked sama rice.
Fry the rice with vegetables on low flame for 2-3 minutes.
– Add rock salt and black pepper powder as per taste.
Then add water and cover it and let it cook on low flame for 5-7 minutes.
– When the rice becomes soft, turn off the gas and keep covered for 2 minutes.
– Finally, squeeze lemon juice on top and add finely chopped coriander.
– Serve it with curd or peanut chutney.
