Spring is now officially in the air, and dogowners are already looking forward to taking their best friends out on sunny, fun walks.

If you're looking for a bigger adventure than just walking to and from your local park, perhaps consider a longer journey around the country's most beautiful trails.

According to a study conducted by Tails.com, the South West Coast Path in Somerset, Devon, and Cornwall is officially the UK’s prettiest dog walk. The website accounted for 329,000 Instagram hashtags about it, a metric to show that the route captures hearts as much as it does paws.

The journey spans a long - but all-around scenic - 8-mile stretch, with breathtaking cliffside views, dramatic rock formations, and the unmistakable feel of the seaside air.

• Corridor for Brits' holidays is shrinking and is now just 50 miles wide

There, dogs will be excited to find sandy beaches to play around in, waves for fun in the water, and even hidden coves to explore along the route. Many of the beaches along the coastline walk are dog-friendly, so fun is guaranteed for the whole family, including the four-legged members.

Visitors can attest to the area's allure. On TripAdvisor, one couple shared that after staying in Looe, they spent most of their day on the beach before wandering to nearby Polperro, a charming town full of nice hotels, restaurants, art galleries, and souvenir shops. “We walked until the end of the harbour and climbed the cliffs. Amazing experience, amazing view of the sea and the mountains.”

They described the streets as beautifully decorated and said the town’s natural attractions were worth a visit for nature lovers.

The visitors added that the area is very dog-friendly, and highlighted that they had plenty of options for lunch with a view after an energetic walk with their two terriers.

While the South West Coast Path takes the crown, some other beautiful dog-friendly walks across the UK are also not to be missed. The research singles out Derwentwater Circular in the Lake District, Cumbria, with a gentle 10-mile route offering a lake, ancient woodland, and flat terrain.

Then comes the Northumberland Coast Path for visitors looking for history and sand dunes, with a view of Bamburgh Castle. There, dogs can have their fun while their humans enjoy charming villages nearby.

In Scotland, consider the West Highland Way for dramatic mountain landscapes, peaceful lochs, and a chance to explore the Highlands.

To round out the list, the study follows with Hadrian’s Wall Path in Cumbria for its Roman history, Mam Tor & Great Ridge in the Peak District for panoramic views, and the Thames Path from Gloucestershire to Essex for pit stops in historic towns.UK's prettiest dog walk revealed

There's also the New Forest National Park in Hampshire, East Sussex’s Seven Sisters Cliffs Walk, and the South Downs Way.
