A major NASCAR result over the weekend drew attention as Magic Johnson publicly celebrated his longtime friend Michael Jordan . The moment came after another strong showing from Jordan’s 23XI Racing team. While it was not the first time, Johnson’s heartfelt wish shows the friendship between the NBA legends.

Jordan’s involvement in NASCAR has been remarkable. With consistent performances and increasing wins, 23XI Racing has become a serious contender early in the 2026 season. The latest success at Darlington only strengthened the hope, placing both Jordan and his team firmly in the spotlight.

Magic Johnson sends a congratulatory message to Michael Jordan

Magic Johnson took to social media to acknowledge the achievement, writing, "Another great accomplishment for my good friend Michael Jordan and his NASCAR Cup Series driver, Tyler Reddick , who won the Darlington Raceway yesterday!"

Jordan who is a co-owner of 23XI Racing has been actively involved with the team. The involvement and investment of Jordan in the sport have aided in the building of the profile of the organization. This has been a very effective competitive structure that Jordan and his co-owner, Denny Hamlin, have developed, and the team is now competing with the long-established powerhouses.

In the NASCAR scene, teams such as Hendrick Motorsports, Joe Gibbs Racing, and Team Penske have been at the top for years. However, recent performances are indicating that 23XI Racing is narrowing the gap.

Tyler Reddick shines at Darlington Raceway

Tyler Reddick delivered one of the most impressive drives of the season at Darlington Raceway, overcoming multiple setbacks to secure victory in the Goodyear 400. Starting from pole position, Reddick led early before a pit issue dropped him down the order. He later fought back through the field, regaining control of the race.

Of course, mechanical challenges were there. A failing alternator forced him to manage power carefully, even shutting off systems to keep the car running. Despite the heat and pressure, he stayed focused during the final laps.

"To win four [races] in the fashion we’ve won the four is pretty remarkable," Reddick said. "Three of the four wins we’ve had to fight through some level of adversity... Just really proud of my team."

He added, "The final 100 laps were brutally hot, "Reddick said. "[Crew chief] Billy [Scott] asked me if I was willing to stay and keep everything off. I was all in because I really wanted to win here."

Reddick’s latest win was his fourth in six races, giving him a commanding lead in the standings.
