Lucy Fallon has discussed her future on Coronation Street after eight years portraying Bethany Platt.
The actress joined the ITV soap in 2015 as the daughter of Sarah (Tina O'Brien) - before departing in 2020 and returning once more in 2023. And throughout the years, Bethany has been involved in numerous major storylines.
From being groomed to experiencing botched surgery, Bethany's time in Weatherfield has certainly not been lacking in drama. The character also made her soap return in October last year, following the conclusion of actress Lucy's maternity leave.
Recently though, Bethany has only appeared sporadically on the soap. However, Lucy has now confirmed that despite not being "very busy" on Coronation Street at present, she is remaining with the show.
When questioned about potentially departing the soap, Lucy told The Mirror: "I've done that once before, I don't plan on doing it again.", reports the Daily Star.
"You get periods of time where you're not in - I'm not very busy there at the moment, which has been really nice because I get to spend time with Sonny and Nancy [her two children]". She then hinted at a new storyline and said: "But in a few weeks' time, I'm going to be busy again."
Beyond the soap, Lucy is loved-up with fiancé footballer Ryan Ledson, whom she became engaged to back in November. The couple are parents to daughter Nancy, born in January 2025, and son Sonny, born in 2023.
Announcing her engagement news last year, Lucy shared a series of photographs on Instagram displaying her stunning engagement ring. In the initial image, she and Ryan, who are parents to children Sonny and Nancy, captured a selfie whilst she raised her hand towards the camera, and it seemed the bride-to-be was overcome with emotion as tears welled in her eyes.
A further photograph depicted Lucy seated in a restaurant, where she was pictured raising her glass with her beautiful engagement ring gleaming on her wedding finger. Accompanying the post, the soap star penned: "Ending the birthday weekend with my best friend as a fiancé!!!! I can't wait to marry you @ryanledson8."
Speaking recently about motherhood, Lucy told OK!: "They're great, but they're such a handful - especially Sonny at the moment. He's got the terrible twos a little bit late, I'd say!"
The television star also discovered the transition from one child to two more challenging than anticipated. She confessed: "I think going from zero to one was easier.
"I think it's the age gap as well - Sonny was still a baby when I had Nancy, and whilst it's so lovely and seeing how they interact now, the juggle of having a toddler, a baby and work is quite hard."
Coronation Street airs Monday to Friday at 8:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX
