New Delhi: Lamborghini usually doesn’t come with a heavy portfolio, but in the past few years, the range has increased. It has been almost a decade since the automaker brought the Urus, their first high-powered SUV and now the company’s CEO, Stephan Winkelmann, wants another type of product in their lineup, essentially a touring car.
Winkelmann, in his interaction with Road & Track, during the 12 Hours of Sebring last weekend, said that a grand touring “two-door 2+2” was missing from the portfolio.
Winkelmann said he’s not focusing on having another SUV or even a saloon in the Lamborghini lineup. The brand’s first electric vehicle, the Lanzador, was going to be a two-door 2+2 grand tourer, but the Italian carmaker has apparently cancelled that, or at least delayed it until 2030. Of course, the Lanzador might exchange the EV powertrain for a hybrid.

Lamborghini Lanzador is currently shelved
In the previous year, Winkelmann had even suggested that Lanzador might completely ditch the electric powertrain and instead come with a plug-in hybrid to adapt to changing market conditions. Back then, he had said that it was still undecided as to which powertrain the car ultimately might get.
The decision has been made in favour of the hybrid version to join the Lamborghini portfolio before this decade’s end. Lamborghini obviously wants to add a fourth car to their lineup, and it is likely close to launching a plug-in hybrid GT. However, completely not bringing the Lanzador might be a little extreme.
