A major update has been shared after a British mum who contracted meningitis was left fighting for her life in Tenerife.
Jade Bird, 33, became unwell when she was preparing to fly home from Span earlier this month. She was rushed to a local hospital where medics learned she had contracted meningitis.
Carer Jade, from Abergele, was placed into an induced coma with family rushing to be by her bedside. The sibling explained: "She flew out to Tenerife with her boyfriend for a holiday. While they were there, she was complaining of earache, then she started being sick."
After weeks of uncertainty, Jade's friend shared an update that she was well enough to be discharged and had returned home. Jade was discharged on Thursday and flew home on the same day.

A family friend told The Mirror: "She is now back in the UK, doing well, stable, and is currently being assessed in a hospital closer to home as she continues her recovery."
Jade said the original GoFundMe campaign that was able to raise enough money to support her family in flying to Spain has been closed and that anyone wanting to donate can do so toward a charity case close to her heart.
"The money has enabled my family to get endless flights, stay at my bedside for weeks and will help me stay off work to recover properly and spend time with my girl until I’m better," Jade said. "It’s also allowed us to donate to a very good cause called Tommy’s Story, and I’m hoping to help raise awareness for their needs.
"Tommy is from Sale, where I’m from. He is a 5-year-old little boy, the same age as my daughter Skyla, and he is currently on palliative chemotherapy whilst trying to get to America for treatment. We would never have been able to donate what we did without all your help.
"I’m so lucky to be alive, and I’m so grateful to everyone. I will never forget this. Every day I still wake up with overwhelming love and support.
"You truly are amazing people, and I will forever be grateful, grateful to Tenerife Hospital for saving my life, grateful to you all for enabling my family to be there, and so very thankful that my daughter still has a mum."
