Cabinet Minister Sanjeev Arora today said that Oberoi Group and SpringEdge Solutions Private Limited have signed an MoU for the development of a world-class hospitality project in Amritsar, which will give a big boost to the tourism and hospitality sector of Punjab.

The agreement was signed in the presence of senior representatives from both parties, including Shri R. Shankar and Dr. Shahbaz Singh, Dr. Avtar Singh and Dr. Amandeep Kaur, directors of SpringEdge Solutions Pvt. Ltd. Administrative Secretary, Industries and Commerce, Punjab Gurkirat Kirpal Singh was also present on this occasion.

He informed that this 150-room upcoming project will be developed under the Trident brand of Oberoi Group and will be located at a distance of about 3 kilometers from Sri Harmandir Sahib on Amritsar-Tarn Taran Road. An investment of around Rs 400 crore will be made in this project spread over approximately 3 acres, which is expected to significantly strengthen the premium hospitality infrastructure of Amritsar.

He further said that this project will create employment opportunities for about 350 people, which will also give impetus to local economic activities.

Sharing more details, he said that this hospitality project will be developed in joint collaboration between Oberoi Group and SpringEdge Solutions Pvt Ltd, combining the globally recognized luxury hospitality expertise of Oberoi Group and the strong local presence of SpringEdge.

It is noteworthy that this will be the first hotel in Punjab under the Trident brand. Currently 9 hotels are operating under the Trident brand across the country. At the same time, Oberoi Group operates a total of 32 hotels in India and 10 more are under construction. In Punjab, the group already operates the Oberoi Sukhvilas Spa Resort in New Chandigarh.

In this context, the Amritsar project holds special significance, as it is considered to be the first greenfield project of this scale in Punjab under the Trident brand. Work on this project is likely to begin in July 2026 and is targeted to be completed by March 2029.

The Punjab Government has played an important role in facilitating this collaboration through Invest Punjab. Invest Punjab has been active over the last one and a half years in coordinating with both the parties and bringing them together on one platform, which reflects the commitment of the state government to attract high-value investments.

Highlighting Punjab’s growing progress in the industry sector, Cabinet Minister Sanjeev Arora said that the state has attracted investments worth Rs 59,448 crore in the year 2025-26, which is the highest in the history of the state, which is likely to create about 1,33,221 jobs. Additionally, since April 1, 2022, Punjab has attracted investments worth Rs 1,59,947 crore, which is likely to create approximately 5,57,664 jobs.

This partnership is an important milestone towards making Punjab a preferred destination for high-end tourism, hospitality and investment, which will further strengthen the global cultural and spiritual identity of the holy city of Amritsar.

Cabinet Minister Sanjeev Arora said that Punjab is fast becoming a hub not only for industry but also for premium tourism and hospitality investment. He said that with the active support of Invest Punjab, such important projects are coming on the ground and are giving a new direction to the economic development of the state.
