Mumbai Local Train Mega Block | Sunday said that Mumbaikars face massive mega block. Every Sunday there is a mega block somewhere due to the maintenance and engineering works of the local train which is known as the lifeline of Mumbai. Tomorrow there will be jumbo mega block on all the three lines of the railway. Blocks are to be taken on the main and trans-harbour lines of the Central Railway, as well as on the Western Railway; This will affect the service of local trains on many routes.

Installation of PSC Slabs and ‘Ballast Retainers’ will be done on Bridge No. 56A between Malad and Kandivali on Harbor Route. This is an important step towards the extension of the harbor route to Borivali. Installation of girders has been undertaken for one of the ‘deck spans’ (C16–C17) on Platform No.1 at Kandivali station. Also construction of girder deck span between Piers C16 and C17 on Platform 1 will be undertaken. So there will be mega block in many places. Mumbai Local Train Mega Block

‘Slow’ trains running between Matunga and Mulund on Central Railway’s main line will be affected by this block between 11:05 am and 3:55 pm. During this period, trains departing from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) between 10:14 AM and 3:32 PM will be diverted to ‘Lad Gati’ route. Therefore, local trains will not be available at stations like Vidyavihar, Kanjurmarg and Nahoor tomorrow. There will be complete suspension of rail traffic between Thane and Vashi/Nerul on the Trans-Harbour route from 11:10 am to 4:10 pm, thus all trains in both directions will be suspended. On Western Railway, a 19-hour ‘block’ will be taken between Kandivali and Borivali for ‘re-girdering’ work of Bridge No. 61. This block will be in effect from Saturday 10:30 PM to Sunday 7:30 PM. As a result, around 300 local trains will be cancelled. During this period trains will not run from Platform No. 1 and 2 of Borivali station. Passengers are advised to plan alternative journeys.
