On Friday, two prisoners escaped from the high-tech jail built in Rewari, Haryana, raising big questions on the security arrangements. 20-21 year old Faizan and Zahid carried out this incident after planning for several days and exposed the claims of tight security. Both the accused were in jail in online fraud cases and within a few days they became close friends. According to police sources, both of them were keeping an eye on the security arrangements of the jail, the height of the walls and the activities of the guards for the last several days.

Staircase became a means of escape

Taking advantage of the ongoing construction in the jail, both of them jumped over a 20-25 feet high wall by connecting two wooden stairs lying there. He used the same ladder to climb down from the wall. The location of the jail also worked for him, as it was built amidst fields near the Delhi-Jaipur Highway. After climbing the wall, both of them reached the highway through the fields and from there, one took the vehicle and ran away to Delhi and the other to UP.

One mistake proved costly, this is how the police got caught

However, after absconding, both of them could not escape from the police for long. The police already had information about their contacts and locations. As soon as they contacted their acquaintances, the police tracked them down and arrested both of them. Police arrested one accused from Delhi, while the other was caught from UP, about 350 kilometers away.

Hi-tech jail with capacity of 1000 prisoners

This jail was inaugurated by Naib Singh Saini in June 2025. Built at a cost of around Rs 95 crore, this jail is spread over 50 acres and has the capacity to hold 1000 prisoners. Modern security systems like CCTV and digital surveillance are present here.

Big action on negligence

Taking action against the jail administration after the incident, DG Jail Alok Mittal suspended 7 employees, which include 5 head warders and 2 warders. At present, investigation is going on in this matter and big questions are being raised regarding the security arrangements of the jail.
