A new name is emerging rapidly in India’s space industry. Bharat Space Vehicle, a Surat-based private company, is now looking to strengthen its presence in the country’s space sector. According to the information, this company was established in 2024 and its founding team includes experienced scientists from the Indian Space Research Organization who have many years of experience.
The company is developing a two-stage rocket called Agastya-1, which is being designed to launch small satellites into space. This rocket is based on liquid fuel technology, which makes it different from other small rockets. Liquid fuel rockets can be thoroughly tested before launch, reducing risk and increasing the chance of success.
This rocket will be approximately 28 meters high and will be capable of sending satellites weighing up to 500 kg into polar orbit. At the same time, in low inclination lower orbit it can carry a load of up to 800 kg. Experts believe that this project can prove important for India in view of the increasing demand for small satellites.
The company includes scientists who have previously contributed to the country’s important space missions. The team consists of experienced people in liquid propulsion systems and launch vehicle technology, who have successfully completed large scale projects in the past.
A proposal for a new launch center has also come forward in Kodinar area of Gir Somnath district of Gujarat. If the plan moves forward, India may get a new launch option on the west coast, which will increase the capability for space missions.
After the new space policy 2023, opportunities for private companies have increased in this sector and many startups are working in this direction. This initiative can further strengthen India in the global space market and open new possibilities towards low cost satellite launches.
