New Delhi. Now Vodafone Idea (Vi) is also moving forward rapidly in the race for 5G network in India. The company has announced that it is going to significantly expand its 5G network in the coming months. Under this plan, Vi will expand its services from the current 43 cities to 133 cities.
Currently, Vi’s 5G service is available in 17 circles, but 90 new cities will be added to it by May 2026. The company aims to focus on areas where internet demand is high and data usage is growing rapidly.
In which areas coverage will increase
Vi is preparing to expand its network to many major states and cities of the country. These include Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Punjab, Haryana, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal. Especially priority will be given to industrial areas and rapidly developing cities.
The network will change automatically
Vi has also provided auto-switching feature for the convenience of the users. This means that as soon as you go out of the 5G coverage area, your phone will automatically switch to the 4G network. There will be no need for any manual setting for this.
What is special for users
The biggest feature of this initiative of Vi is that customers will not need to change their existing 4G SIM to use 5G service. If you have a 5G supporting phone and a suitable plan, you can avail the benefits of high-speed internet straight away. Through this step, Vi is preparing to give tough competition to other big telecom operators of the country and is moving towards making 5G more accessible to the users.
