Arsenal could have a few new names in their starting lineup for the first game of the 2026/27 season, if rumours are to be believed.

Despite the transfer window not opening for another couple of months, the Gunners have already been linked with a whole host of possible transfers. Arsenal are currently nine points ahead of second-placed Manchester City, although Pep Guardiola’s men do have a game in hand. The two sides are also due to meet each other in the Premier League next month in what could be a crucial match in deciding where the title ends up.

Mikel Arteta will be hoping to build a squad to defend a Premier League title. They have already been linked with the likes of Sandro Tonali and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

Tonali currently plays for Newcastle United, but the Telegraph claims that the midfielder will be allowed to leave the club this summer if the price is right. He has been a key player for Eddie Howe’s men over the last couple of seasons.

Arsenal are also reportedly showing interest in PSG winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, according to the Independent. The report adds that the player will be open to a potential move this summer.

Kai Havertz’s future has been a source of speculation following the summer arrival of Viktor Gyokeres and transfer links with Atletico Madrid’s Julian Alvarez, as well as young Club Brugge striker Nicolo Tresoldi. However, Havertz has made his stance clear.

“No, to be honest, I haven’t heard anything about that, and I haven’t read anything about it either,” he said, addressing his future. “I feel right at home at Arsenal, I feel everyone there is also very, very happy with me.”

“Sure, it wasn’t a very easy season, but I definitely see my future at Arsenal, in London.”

Despite the comments, if Arsenal have the chance to complete a deal for Alvarez, then it’s one that they could take to improve their squad ahead of next season. A deal for Tresoldi will likely be one more for the future, with him more likely to be coming off the bench throughout the season as the 21-year-old adapts to life in the Premier League.

If Alvarez is joined by Tonali and Kvaratskhelia, then all three are likely to go straight into the starting lineup.

In a 4-3-3, Alvarez would become the main striker, potentially replacing Gyokeres, withBukayo Saka and Kvaratskhelia providing attacking support on either flank.

Tonali would then make up a midfield three alongside Declan Rice and club captain Martin Odegaard. Should Odegaard be unavailable for any reason, then Eberechi Eze could come in as a number 10, with the formation tweaked slightly to 4-2-3-1.

Given the success of the back five, there’s not too much that needs doing in that area of the squad. If everyone is fit and available, goalkeeper David Raya would be helped by a back four of Jurrien Timber, William Saliba, Gabriel Magalhaes and Riccardo Calafiori.
