New Delhi: Ottneil Baartman, Corbin Bosch, Matthew Breetzke, Dewald Brevis and Karabo Meso were awarded national deals for the first time by Cricket South Africa (CSA) while David Miller was shockingly omitted on Tuesday. CSA announced the contracts list for the 2026-27 season with a total of 18 men’s and 15 women’s contracts awarded.

In addition, one men’s hybrid contract to off-spinner Simon Harmer was also announced. Miller was on a hybrid contract last season. Furthermore, CSA also introduced a list of 20 men’s Players of National Interest (Ponis), who have been kept next in line for selection with them being domestically contracted.

The nature of the hybrid contracts is such that they allow players to discuss which bilateral series they will be available for while giving them the room to prioritise certain leagues. In the last season, Miller missed South Africa’s white-ball tour to Australia in August to play in the Hundred and now he holds no contractual arrangement with CSA, suggesting an international retirement is in the offing.

Meanwhile, top-order batter Rassie van der Dussen has also been dropped from the hybrid contract list. He last represented the side on the Australia tour which could be his last. In the bowling department, pacers Nandre Burger, Gerald Coetzee and Lizaad Williams have also been dropped out of the contract list. Women’s all-rounder Eliz-Mari Marx’s name has also been cut.
