Luke Humphries previously voiced his disbelief in Luke Littler's composure under pressure, admitting his rival "never folds". The world No. 1 may still be 19 years old but he certainly holds himself in a manner that's beyond his years.

With 26 PDC titles to his name, including 12 major honours, the reigning world champion has already been in countless tense-filled and stressful environments. Littler's ability to cope in such situations has left Humphries in awe with the teenager's ice-cold mentality certainly serving him well.

Many of those situations came against Humphries himself as the pair have faced off 29 times since Littler's debut on the PDC Tour in 2024. Possessing bragging rights with 18 wins compared to 11 for the 31-year-old, the opportunity for a 30th match-up could happen on Thursday in Night 9 of Premier League Darts.

'Cool Hand' made the admission of Littler's unwavering belief after he was beaten by him in the final of the Winmau World Masters in February. He also gave his opponent the ultimate compliment, as he said: "I think he's the greatest dart player that has ever lived.

"I said to him at the end: I don't even think you have a heart! He never folds under pressure. You try your hardest to put him under it, and he just never folds."

Upon being informed of Humphries' declaration, Littler showed his humble side by claiming no player, including himself, will ever be able to surpass the legacy of Phil Taylor. The youngster said: "I didn't hear him say that.

"I heard the crowd cheer a few times when he was talking, but I couldn't hear him. But no one will ever beat Phil [Taylor]. I won't be the greatest ever, even if I do win more than what Phil won."

However, Littler has shown no qualms in insisting on his greatness, when justified by the PDC rankings. He said earlier this year: "I said throughout the year, whoever is number one is the best," he said. "Luke Humphries has been the best in the world. Now I'm number one, I am the best."

Littler will take Gian van Veen in the quarter-finals on Thursday at the Manchester Arena in a repeat of the 2026 PDC World Darts Championship final while the reigning Premier League champion Humphries takes on Gerwyn Price.
