Rinku Singh added another franchise milestone to his Kolkata Knight Riders career on Thursday, becoming the leading catch-taker for the side in Indian Premier League history during the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad at Eden Gardens. The vice-captain moved past Andre Russell’s long-standing mark after completing two catches in the innings, taking his tally to 41 catches from 61 matches for the Kolkata-based franchise.
The landmark moment came in two stages. Rinku first held Ishan Kishan off Blessing Muzarabani’s bowling before later taking a boundary-line catch to dismiss Aniket Verma off Anukul Roy. The second grab carried greater statistical weight, pushing him clear of Russell, who had finished with 40 catches across 133 appearances for KKR between 2013 and 2025.

Rinku goes past Russell and Narine
With 41 catches, Rinku now leads KKR’s all-time outfield catching list despite having played significantly fewer matches than the names below him. Russell slips to second with 40, while Sunil Narine remains third with 36 catches from 191 matches. Manoj Tiwary is next with 30 from 54 outings, highlighting how rapidly Rinku has climbed the franchise charts.
The record also underlines his growing all-round value to the side beyond finishing duties with the bat. In just 61 IPL matches for KKR, his fielding numbers have now overtaken players who spent more than a decade in the setup, giving the milestone an almost straight-faced irony in a team historically known for seasoned match-winner
| Player | Matches | Catches |
| Rinku Singh | 61* | 41* |
| Andre Russell | 133 | 40 |
| Sunil Narine | 191* | 36* |
| Manoj Tiwary | 54 | 30 |
| Suryakumar Yadav | 54 | 25 |
Bigger IPL catching chart still led by Kohli
While Rinku now tops the KKR list, the overall IPL benchmark continues to belong to Virat Kohli, who has taken 118 catches for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in 268 matches. He also leads the record for most catches for a single franchise in the tournament.
Ravindra Jadeja and Suresh Raina sit jointly second on the all-time IPL list with 109 catches each, while Kieron Pollard follows with 103 for Mumbai Indians. Across the league’s history, only five players have crossed the 100-catch mark as outfielders, placing Rinku’s latest franchise record in a wider fielding context as one of KKR’s most efficient hands in the competition.
