A leading UK car brand has been forced to pull more than 16,000 vehiclesamid concerns they could pose a firerisk.
Owners of the I-PACE by Jaguar were reportedly instructed to "visit an authorised repairer" due to a battery fire risk, which could cause thermal overload.
"JLR is voluntarily recalling certain JaguarI-PACE vehicles equipped with traction battery packs manufactured up to the end of the 2021 model year," a spokesperson told the Sun.
"Affected clients will be contacted and asked to visit a JLR authorised repairer, who will carry out an inspection and cost-free software update to address an elevated safety risk."
The company also urged drivers to avoid parking close to any buildings and to charge their cars outside until the interim repair is complete.
"A vehicle thermal overload condition, such as fire or smoke, can result in increased risk of occupant injury and/or injury to persons outside the vehicle, as well as property damage," Jaguar wrote to customers.
6,000 I-PACE models were recalled in the US in 2023 due to a high-voltage battery overheating risk, which can lead to fires.
At the time, owners were also were advised to park outside, away from structures, and limit charging to 80% while waiting for updates on their vehicles to be completed.
