The film Beta was a blockbuster and Anil Kapoor's performance in it won everyone's heart. For this he also received the Filmfare Award for Best Actor. At the same time, Madhuri Dixit also received the award. Aruna Irani played a negative role in the film. She also received the Best Supporting Actress award for this film.

The film Beta was a remake of the Tamil movie Enga Chinna Rasa. The writer-director and actor of this film was K Bhagyaraj. This story was inspired by B. Puttaswamyya's Kannada novel Ardhangi. It was released on 17 June 1987. It was made in Hindi along with Kannada as Annayya and in Telugu as Abbayigaru.

In the film Beta, along with Anil Kapoor-Madhuri Dixit, Aruna Irani, Anupam Kher, Priya Arun, Akash Khurana, Kunika Sadanand, Adi Irani, Laxmikant Berde, Bharti Achrekar, Rajeev Mehta etc. were in lead roles.
