The April 1 dispute between Sanjiv Goenka and Rishabh Pant has now developed into a public spectacle which cricketers and commentators are entering to attack the LSG owner.  IPL founder Lalit Modi joined the criticism when he attacked Goenka for the widely shared viral clip which has become popular on the internet.

Lalit Modi used social media to express his opposition to Goenka's on-field actions during the IPL 2026 LSG vs DC match at Ekana Cricket Stadium because it reminded him of the KL Rahul-Goenka dispute. The viral video shows Goenka pointing at Pant while he talked with Pant who attempted to defend himself at the boundary after the match.

The Lucknow Super Giants lost their game against Delhi Capitals because their initial defense against DC failed to stop the opposing team. DC achieved a six-wicket victory because Sameer Rizvi performed exceptionally well to establish team momentum.

Sanjiv Goenka who had previously clashed with KL Rahul demonstrated his tendency toward conflict when he spoke with Rishabh Pant after the game. He suggested that there was no reason to discipline Rishabh Pant because there had been only one tournament match.

Lalit Modi responded to Michael Vaughan's remark by making harsh comments about the LSG owner. The official handle of Modi which he used to post his comments about Goenka's conduct showed his deep disapproval of Goenka's behavior.

Modi requested BCCI to establish in-force restrictions which would control team owners' behavior towards their players after he proposed that Goenka should receive an IPL suspension. The matter receives additional understanding through their past relationship. Goenka publicly recognized multiple people who contributed to the development of IPL in India three days before this event.

Modi did not mention Lalit Modi at all. Modi became furious after Goenka left him out because he called Goenka a 'clown' who had 'zero knowledge' of what he did. Sanjiv Goenka has not made any social media or official statement responses to the ongoing online controversy. LSG lost their first match of the season and they will try to win their upcoming match against SRH on April 5.
