Cursor's new AI agents can build software for you
03 Apr 2026

Cursor, a leading player in the AI coding space, has launched its latest product interface - Cursor 3.

The new offering lets users create AI coding agents to execute tasks on their behalf.

Developed under the code name Glass, this innovative tool is Cursor's answer to agentic coding solutions like Anthropic's Claude Code and OpenAI's Codex.

Cursor 3 is integrated into the existing desktop app
User interface

Cursor 3 launches as part of the existing desktop app, where it sits alongside the integrated development environment (IDE).

Users can type a task they'd like an AI agent to complete in natural language, making it more like a chatbot than a coding environment.

Unlike desktop apps for Claude Code and Codex, Cursor 3 combines an agent-first product with Cursor's AI-powered development environment.

Cursor has started training its own AI models
Market strategy

As it competes with top AI labs for developers and enterprise customers, Cursor has started training in-house AI models.

The company recently launched Composer 2, an AI model based on an open-source system from the Chinese lab Moonshot AI.

As per the company, people usually choose AI models in Cursor based on performance, price, and speed and Composer 2 is competitive on those fronts.
