Axis Bank has introduced a new feature allowing customers to update their registered mobile numbers on their mobile banking app using Aadhaar-based face authentication. This update process is entirely digital and can be completed without visiting a bank branch. Users are required to verify their identity using a live facial scan linked to their Aadhaar, followed by an OTP confirmation. The bank stated that this feature is designed to simplify the routine task of updating account details while maintaining the integrity of identity verification through Aadhaar-based authentication.
How to Update Your Axis Bank Mobile Number Using Aadhaar Face Authentication?
Axis Bank has introduced a new feature enabling customers to update their registered mobile numbers on their mobile banking app using Aadhaar-based face authentication. The bank noted that this process can be completed entirely online, offering users the convenience of making this change without having to visit a bank branch. This adds a self-service option for a task that typically requires an in-person visit for verification.
To update their mobile number, users must follow these steps on the Axis Bank Open app:
Enter the new mobile number you wish to register.
Open the 'AadhaarFaceRD' app, which is available on the Play Store.
Complete the Aadhaar-based face authentication by capturing a live image of yourself using the front camera.
To confirm the update, enter the One-Time Password (OTP) sent to the new mobile number.
Axis Bank explained that this feature verifies the user's identity using Aadhaar face authentication. To do this, it matches the user's live image against the records available in the Aadhaar database. As an additional security measure, the bank stated that for the first 24 hours after the number is updated, the limits for mobile banking transactions are temporarily reset to default levels, and the user is required to log in again. The bank also stated that this service is available as a self-service option on its mobile app; however, customers can also visit a bank branch to seek assistance if needed.
