Sonu Sood has been making headlines for his humanitarian work for a while now. This latest initiative hits close to home, quite literally. The actor has been boots-on-the-ground in Punjab, where recent floods left hundreds of families without shelter, and he’s taken it upon himself to rebuild what was lost. Over 100 homes have already been reconstructed, and he vows the effort won’t stop until every affected family has a roof over their head.

Sonu Sood took to social media to share an update on the relief work, captioning his post, Punjab floods took away homes but not hope. 242 homes are being rebuilt so families can start again, with dignity and strength. Just doing our bit. In a video statement, Sonu Sood explained that after seeing the widespread destruction caused by the Punjab floods, his team went directly to the ground to assess the situation and identify families whose homes had been destroyed.
He shared that Sucharity Foundation and EKL CSR Foundation joined hands to personally visit affected families, understand their problems, and make a promise that no matter how many houses needed to be rebuilt, whether 200, 250, or 300, every person would have a roof over their head.

He also gave a shoutout to his sister Malvika Sood, who has been physically present in Punjab throughout this effort. Malvika Sood shared her statement, saying Punjab is home, and standing by its people in their toughest time is not a choice but a responsibility. We are fully committed to seeing this through until every family has a safe roof over their head. Coming from someone physically present throughout this process, that statement carries real weight.
Sonu Sood has been doing this kind of work for a while now. During the COVID-19 lockdown, he arranged transport for migrant workers trying to get home, and since then, he has been involved in medical and education support across the country. The Punjab flood relief is very much in line with that pattern. Over 100 homes have already been rebuilt, and the work is ongoing, with the team committed to seeing it through until every family is resettled safely.
