New Delhi: Virat Kohli has enjoyed a fine start to his campaign in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 with defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Kohli smashed an unbeaten 69 as RCB defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in their opening game of the season at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru last week.
Kohli stole the show with his vintage knock against SRH, gaining praise from all corners. While his performance sparked buzz, there has also been a lot of chatter around the RCB superstar’s move to settle in London. Kohli has been living in London with his wife, Anushka Sharma, and their two children for a while now.
His decision to leave India and shift base to London has often led to chatter on social media, with some also poking fun at the Indian icon. Recently, RCB host Danish Sait, in his usual Mr Nags avatar, took a hilarious jibe at Kohli over his move to settle in London. During a light-hearted exchange, Sait playfully told Kohli that fans have been accusing RCB of playing five overseas players in their playing XI.
Kohli was left in splits at the hilarious question and decided to give a cheeky response. “I don’t know, why are you asking me? Ask the overseas players,” Kohli said, laughing. The RCB star then got in a serious tone and asked Nags if he thought he was an overseas player. “I am not an overseas player. Am I an overseas player?”. The clip of the funny exchange has gone viral on social media.

For context, fans have been poking fun at Kohli and RCB over the star batter’s decision to shift bases to London, with many labelling him an ‘extra overseas player’ for the franchise. Kohli and Anushka decided to leave India for London in 2024 to have a more secure and normal life for their children, away from the media limelight and scrutiny in India.
After recording a thumping win over Sunrisers Hyderabad, RCB and Kohli will return to action against arch-rivals Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Sunday, April 05. RCB will lock horns with CSK at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru in their second game of the season. While the defending champions made a strong start to their campaign, CSK have slipped to back-to-back defeats in their first two matches of the season.
