Artemis II mission was successfully launched on 1 April 2026. This mission is an attempt to take humans around the Moon for the first time in the last 50 years. A team of four astronauts has set out on this 10-day journey, which is considered very important for future lunar missions.
However, just hours after launch, an unexpected problem emerged. Mission Commander Reed Wiseman reported that Microsoft Outlook was not working on his personal computing device. He said that despite having two different Outlook applications, neither was running properly. This problem occurred when he was in Earth’s orbit. After this he immediately sought help from Houston-based Mission Control.
How did Mission Control solve the problem?
The NASA team fixed this technical problem through remote access. After some time the system started working again, although it had to be used in offline mode. This incident showed that whether on earth or in space, technical problems can occur anywhere.
Memes spread on social media
As soon as this news came out, people started giving funny reactions about it on social media. Many users joked that Outlook’s problems have reached space. Some people also raised the question as to why such software was used in such an important mission, which often faces technical problems.
Other challenges also emerged
This mission was not limited to just the email problem. After launch, there was also a problem with the shuttle’s toilet system, where its fan got jammed. However, it was rectified with the instructions of the ground team. Additionally, even before launch, the mission faced several technical challenges, such as fuel issues and heat shield failure.
Despite all these obstacles, the Artemis II mission continued to move ahead. On April 3, the spacecraft successfully completed the process, allowing it to escape Earth’s gravity and move towards the Moon. Reed Wiseman along with Victor Glover, Christina Koch and Jeremy Hansen are involved in this mission. This mission is an important step towards landing humans on the Moon in the future.
