People present at the fair along with police personnel present there immediately launched a rescue operation. It took them nearly one hour to rescue the trapped people. Six ambulances from the 108 emergency service reached the spot and rushed the injured to nearby hospitals. Two children are said to be in serious condition.
The operator reportedly ignored a technical fault that appeared after four rounds of the ride, which eventually led to the accident. Even passengers warned the operator about the same but the operator continued the ride.
The Bhainsaha fair is held near the ancient Durga temple situated on the banks of the Narayani river in Kushinagar. It attracts a large number of devotees from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Following the incident, a case has been registered against the swing operator for negligence.
