News India Live, Digital Desk: Amidst the ongoing tension in West Asia and the dangers looming on the sea routes, a relief news has emerged for India. India’s seventh LPG tanker ‘Green Saanvari’ has successfully crossed the Strait of Hormuz. The movement of ships on this route, considered the most sensitive for global energy supplies, remains extremely risky due to Houthi rebels and regional conflicts. India is monitoring every moment to ensure its gas supply. Successful entry of ‘Green Sawri’ in Hormuz: Why is it important? The Strait of Hormuz is the narrowest sea passage in the world through which a large part of the global oil and gas passes. According to Marine Traffic data, the safe passage of ‘Green Sanwari’ is a major achievement for India’s energy security. In the current circumstances, where many international shipping companies have distanced themselves from this route, the continuous progress of Indian tankers shows that India does not want to allow gas shortage as part of its strategic plan. The danger is not over yet: 17 tankers are still in the queue. Even though seven tankers have passed safely, the challenges are not over yet. According to the latest reports, about 17 more LPG tankers carrying gas for India are still waiting for their turn in the sea or are moving very slowly. Due to security reasons, utmost care is being taken regarding the location and route of these ships. If there is much delay in the movement of these tankers, it may impact the prices and availability of LPG in the domestic market in the coming times. The fear of Houthi rebels and the ongoing attacks on ships in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden have increased the concern of the entire world. The Indian Navy has also deployed its warships on these sea routes to provide security cover to Indian merchant ships. Big tankers like ‘Green Sanwari’ are being continuously monitored through satellites and radar to ensure safe movement. The Government of India and the Petroleum Ministry are keeping an eye on every situation of the global energy crisis so that the general public does not have to face shortage of cooking gas.
