The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is reportedly laying out an ambitious plan for the international debut of promising young talents like Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Ayush Mhatre. Under the guidance of VVS Laxman at the BCCI's Centre of Excellence, a series of high-performance camps and intra-squad matches are set to take place after the IPL, all aimed at building a strong Indian team for the future.
Gautam Gambhir, the head coach of the senior Indian team, along with Ajit Agarkar, the chief of the All India Men's Senior Selection Committee, will stay informed through the age-group and junior-level coaches. The groundwork for this initiative will kick off with some shadow tours, including an upcoming trip to Sri Lanka for a few four-day matches.
"The India Emerging side will comprise only U-25 players, and they will also constitute India A teams for shadow tours. The roadmap will be created keeping senior chairman of selectors Ajit Agarkar and head coach Gautam Gambhir in the loop," a BCCI source said as reported by NDTV Sports.
"Once the IPL ends, the India U-19 and Emerging (U-25) teams will both tour Sri Lanka for four-day games. The squads will be selected based on intra-CoE tournament performances."

The richest cricket board in the world is taking these steps after reflecting on the disappointing performances in Test cricket over the past couple of years, particularly at home, where they faced losses against New Zealand and South Africa. The BCCI is dedicated to nurturing young talent, ensuring they become strong contenders for the Indian team in the future.
Right now, Suryavanshi and Mhatre are busy showcasing their skills for their respective franchises in the Indian Premier League 2026. They've been turning heads with their impressive performances, prompting cricket experts and fans on social media to call for their inclusion in the national team as soon as possible.
With a well-structured roadmap in place, the BCCI is clearly focused on long-term success by developing emerging stars like Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Ayush Mhatre. Supported by high-performance camps and shadow tours, these young players are being groomed to step up, paving the way for a stronger and more competitive Indian team in the years to come.
