KKR chose to bat after looks like a dry pitch hoping to make their first win of the season but their hopes were dashed. Finn Allen scored 6 before returning to the pavilion while Cameron Green made 4 runs both wickets being taken by Xavier Bartlett. The duo made sure KKR were put under early pressure by picking two wickets in quick succession.

Green made 4 runs having being brought for Rs 25.20 crore and he continued his poor run from the last two matches, where he made 18 runs against Mumbai Indians and 2 runs against Sunrisers Hyderabad. When play was stopped, captain Ajinkya Rahane, who was unbeaten on 8, and Angkrish Raghuvanshi, unbeaten on 7, were looking to rebuild.

Rain, Crowd Exit and KKR's Struggles

KKR are struggling to make their way through this season. They had already suffered an 6 wicket loss against Mumbai Indians in the previous match even after scoring over 200. They then made an embarrassing defeat of 65 runs at home against Sunrisers Hyderabad in their second fixture.

The rain in Kolkata made their struggles worse. It had not stopped after being forced off, and ground staff were seen covering the field, as the play condition worsened, even the cover was lifted at one point as people seemed to hope for a possible restart but it had started pouring along with thunder and lightning making it unsafe to resume.

The delay and rain, has frustrated the fans who decided to leave the stadium after some time as they were made to wait further, people at the stadium have earlier made to watch a smaller attendance at the venue for this fixture (29,358) and this must have been due to the match being on a week-day and rain already predicted.

However, there will be no further play as the match is officially abandoned and it sums up KKR's rough season up to this point, where they have suffered two defeats already, the team is yet to achieve a sense of stability at the top and great form of their star players.
