New Delhi: Skoda Auto Volkswagen India has begun production of the updated Volkswagen Taigun at its Pune plant. This marks the next step in the company’s push to strengthen its SUV line-up in India. The launch is scheduled for April 9, 2026.
The new version of the Taigun focuses on small but noticeable changes rather than a complete overhaul. It brings updates to the design, adds more features, and aims to make the cabin feel more premium. Most of these changes are based on customer feedback and daily usability.

On the outside, the Taigun facelift gets a sharper look. It is expected to feature slimmer LED headlamps connected by a light bar, along with an illuminated Volkswagen badge. The grille and bumpers are likely to be slightly redesigned to give the SUV a more aggressive stance.
At the rear, the connected LED tail-lamps may come with a new lighting pattern. A bigger silver skid plate and less chrome detailing could make the SUV look a bit more rugged. The overall shape of the car will remain the same, but new alloy wheel designs are expected.
Inside the cabin, the changes are more noticeable. The SUV is expected to get a larger touchscreen infotainment system and a fully digital instrument cluster, likely around 10.25 inches. There could also be new seat materials and updated trim elements to improve the overall feel.
Feature additions may include powered and ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, and improved air-conditioning. There are also reports of a rear-seat massage function, but it has not been confirmed yet.
The engine options are likely to stay the same. The Taigun will continue with its 1.0-litre and 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engines. The smaller engine makes around 115bhp and 178 Nm, while the bigger one produces about 150bhp and 250Nm.
The main change could be in the gearbox. The 1.0-litre version may get a new 8-speed automatic instead of the current one. The 1.5-litre engine, however, is expected to keep the same 7-speed DSG gearbox.
