Matthew Perry’s family speaks out ahead of Jasveen Sangha’s sentencing

Matthew Perry’s stepmother, Debbie Perry, has broken her silence nearly three years after the actor’s tragic death, just a day before one of the accused is due to be sentenced.

In a victim impact statement submitted to the court on Tuesday, April 7, Debbie spoke about the lasting impact of the loss and urged the judge to impose the harshest sentence on Jasveen Sangha, dubbed the “Ketamine Queen.”

“The pain you’ve caused to hundreds maybe thousands is irreversible,” Debbie wrote in the statement reviewed by PEOPLE. “There is no joy… No light in the window. They won’t be back.”

She added, “You caused this… You who has talent for business enough to make money chose the one way that hurts people.”

Toward the end of her note, Debbie pleaded with the court to ensure Jasveen could not harm others in the future.

“Please give this heartless woman the maximum prison sentence so she won’t be able to hurt other families like ours,” she concluded.

Key details about Jasveen Sangha ahead of sentencing

The statement comes a day before Jasveen’s sentencing hearing, scheduled for April 8.

Prosecutors are seeking a 15-year prison term, while the defence is requesting time served.

Perry died on October 28, 2023, at the age of 54. An autopsy confirmed that he died from the acute effects of ketamine, with Jasveen among several individuals charged in an alleged drug-supply network tied to his addiction.

She has pleaded guilty to selling ketamine to the Friends alum in the weeks leading up to his death. Court filings state that, on the day he died, his assistant administered multiple injections before finding him unresponsive in a hot tub.

Authorities further allege that Jasveen Sangha attempted to destroy evidence after learning of Matthew Perry’s demise. She has been in custody since August 2024.
