Gandhinagar, 8 April 2026: : Sports team meets CM to inspect preparations for Commonwealth Games 2030 When the Commonwealth Games is to be held in Gujarat in 2030, under the chairmanship of Commonwealth Sports President Mr. Donald Rookrey, five members of the team along with officials of the Indian Olympic Association have visited Gujarat from April 8 to April 11.


The delegation started its Gujarat tour with a greeting-courtesy meeting with Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel in Gandhinagar. Commonwealth Sports President Mr. Donald Rooker and CEO Ms. Kate Sedlire expressed their appreciation for the warm welcome and hospitality they received in Gujarat.


Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel said that by fulfilling the mantra given by Prime Minister Narendrabhai Modi of time bound, qualitative and effective planning, it is the commitment of the state government to organize the Games grandly by working as a team for the Centenary Commonwealth Games 2030.


Commonwealth Games-2030 is to be organized as the Centenary Commonwealth Games, hence Gujarat and Ahmedabad are very proud to have got the hosting post, Mr. Donald praised the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendrabhai Modi and the encouragement he is giving to sports.


Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel had assured the Commonwealth Sports Team and the Indian Olympic Association that the state government will quickly provide all the necessary facilities and infrastructure for the successful conduct of the Commonwealth Games 2030. Commonwealth Sports Team President and CEO had invited Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel to watch the Commonwealth Games to be held in Glasgow from July 2026 to August 2, 2026 and to study and inspect the work planning there.


Accepting this invitation, the Chief Minister had assured that Gujarat’s delegation will come to Glasgow Commonwealth. Commonwealth Sports Team President Mr. Donald Rooke expressed his eagerness to work with mutual teamwork to ensure that the 2030 Centenary Commonwealth Games to be held in Gujarat becomes a sports festival that can also experience the cultural vibrancy.


During this visit to Gujarat, the Commonwealth Sports Delegation is to visit the places where the upcoming Commonwealth Games-2030 are to be held, namely Veer Savarkar Complex of Ahmedabad, Narendra Modi Stadium, EKA Arena, Vadodara Cricket Stadium and Ekta Nagar-Statue of Unity to inspect and study the pre-preparations.


In this meeting with Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Principal Secretary Ashwini Kumar, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Sanjeev Kumar, Additional Principal Secretary Dr. Vikrant Pandey, DG of Sports Authority of Gujarat and other senior officials also participated.
