Will Sunil Narine And Varun Chakravarthy Play Today Against Lucknow?: Match no. 15 of the IPL 2026 is scheduled to take place on Thursday, April 9, at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are slated to host the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) as both teams desperately look for some momentum in the second week of the competition.

Rishabh Pant’s LSG began their campaign with a six-wicket defeat against Delhi Capitals before bouncing back with a victory against Sunrisers Hyderabad, though it was far from a convincing performance from Pant’s side.

Ajinkya Rahane’s KKR had been worse: KKR suffered two huge defeats at the hands of Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad before their third match of the season, against Punjab Kings, ended in a washout.

However, in the 3.4 overs of play that was possible in the KKR vs PBKS fixtureKKR were put on the backfoot by the Punjab pacers, with Xavier Bartlett dismissing Finn Allen and Cameron Green for single-digit scores.

KKR were a depleted unit against Punjab Kings as their spin twins, Sunil Narine and Varun Chakravarthy, were absent from that game.

Narine was not well, and Chakravarthy had sustained a hand injury while fielding against SRH. Consequently, both missed the Punjab game. It was the first time since IPL 2019 that KKR fielded an XI without both Narine and Chakravarthy.

KKR vs LSG: Will Sunil Narine And Varun Chakravarthy Play Today Against Lucknow?

Narine has recovered from his abdominal issue and will play today against LSG. However, Chakravarthy is doubtful as he continues to recover from a left-hand injury.

Narine will likely replace Rovman Powell or Blessing Muzarabani in the side. The chances of Green getting dropped are slim now that it has been learned that Green is expected to start bowling from today’s match against LSG.

Chakravarthy had hurt his left hand’s little finger while attempting a catch during the match versus SRH. He was seen with taping across his left hand, sitting in the dugout during the KKR vs PBKS washed-out match.

KKR desperately need Narine and later Chakravarthy to win them games and put up solid performances. In two outings so far, Narine has picked up just one wicket at an economy of 9.85. Chakravarthy has been woeful, failing to take a single scalp in six overs and leaking runs at 13.16 per over.

Meanwhile, Kolkata’s weather has been iffy this week, with one game already suffering a washout.
