India’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has reached Port Louis to participate in the 9th Indian Ocean Conference and strengthen bilateral relations. This visit is considered important with the aim of further deepening the strategic partnership between India and Mauritius.

On his arrival he was welcomed by Dhananjay Ramful, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade of Mauritius. Jaishankar shared details of his visit and expressed his gratitude for the welcome, writing “Bonjour Morris” on his official social media platform.

Let us tell you, during this tour, Jaishankar will participate in many high-level meetings, in which important issues like regional security, maritime cooperation and economic partnership are expected to be discussed. He said he was looking forward to fruitful talks to take forward the “Enhanced Strategic Partnership” between India and Mauritius.

This four-day visit is being undertaken under India’s ‘Neighbourhood First’ policy and ‘Mahasagar’ vision. The concept of ‘Mahasagar’ i.e. “mutual and inclusive progress for security and development in the regions” was first introduced by Narendra Modi during his visit to Mauritius.

Let us tell you, according to the Ministry of External Affairs, Jaishankar will review all aspects of bilateral relations with the leadership of Mauritius during this period. The Indian Ocean Conference is considered an important platform to discuss maritime security and regional stability.

After the Mauritius visit, Jaishankar will visit the United Arab Emirates in the second phase of his programme, where he will meet with the Emirati leadership from April 11 to 12. During this, there will be discussion on further strengthening the comprehensive strategic partnership and regional cooperation between the two countries.

It is believed that through this tour, India is trying to strengthen its strategic position in the Indian Ocean region as well as giving a new direction to cooperation with the countries of the Global South.
