Lucknow. An important change is going to be implemented for the drivers in Uttar Pradesh. The Transport Department has made it clear that after April 17, many essential services may be closed for vehicles without HSRP (High Security Registration Plate). In such a situation, if you have not yet installed this number plate in your vehicle, then it is important to be alert in time.

What is the new rule?

According to the new provision, Pollution Under Control Certificate (PUCC) will not be issued to vehicles which do not have HSRP number plate. That means, if your vehicle does not have this plate, you will not be able to get a pollution certificate, which is mandatory for driving the vehicle.

Why is HSRP plate necessary?

HSRP is a special type of number plate, which has been designed for security. It has features like unique code and hologram, which makes vehicle identification easy. This helps in curbing theft, fake number plates and other crimes.

Which works will be affected?

In case of absence of HSRP, not only PUCC but also other vehicle works may face problems. Such as insurance claims, transfer of vehicle or other documentary processes may be affected.

How much fine can be imposed?

If your vehicle does not have PUCC, a challan of around ₹1,000 can be imposed for the first time and up to ₹2,000 for repeat violation. At the same time, in some cases, during strictness, the fine can even reach ₹ 10,000. Apart from this, in case of not having HSRP, you may have to pay a separate fine, which may further increase the total expenditure.

How can I apply?

You can apply for HSRP number plate through the online portal www.bookmyhsrp.com. In this you have to fill the information of your vehicle and the plate can be installed on a fixed date.
