Amidst that dark cloud of failure, a film came in the year 1988 which put Big B back on the throne. That film was ‘Shahenshah’. But very few people know that the script of this superhit film, which gave life to Amitabh Bachchan’s career, was not written by any professional writer, but by his wife and famous actress Jaya Bachchan himself. ‘Shahenshah’ got the shield during the worst phase of his career. Amitabh Bachchan had entered politics in the mid-80s, but after the bitterness from there, when he returned to the screen again, his comeback was not that explosive. The film’s director Tinu Anand says that Jaya Bachchan not only wrote the original story of the film, but she also gave a lot of input regarding the dual personality of the character.
