After winning acclaim for her performance as Yalina in Dhurandhar, young actress Sara Arjun is now set for a major breakthrough. Riding high on the success of Dhurandhar 2, she has reportedly bagged a prestigious project where she will portray legendary actress Madhubala on screen.
According to a report by Pinkvilla, Sara Arjun has been finalized to play the lead role in Madhubala’s biopic. The ambitious film will be directed by Jasmeet K Reen and produced under the banner of Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Currently in the pre-production stage, the film is expected to go on floors by the end of this year.

Sources suggest that Sara is putting in intense preparation for the role. She will undergo extensive training, including working on her look, learning the language and mannerisms of that era, and mastering Madhubala’s iconic acting style. The process will also involve dialect coaching and multiple look tests to ensure authenticity.
The biopic aims to present an emotional journey of Madhubala’s life—from her meteoric rise in Indian cinema to the personal struggles she faced behind the scenes. Earlier, actresses like Kiara Advani and Anita Padda were reportedly considered for the role, but the makers have ultimately placed their faith in Sara Arjun.
The project holds special significance as it has the backing of Madhubala’s sister, Madhur Brij Bhushan. Her involvement aims to clear misconceptions about the late actress’s life and bring untold aspects of her story to light. With Bhansali attached, the film is expected to be mounted on a grand scale.
Widely regarded as one of the most beautiful and talented actresses in Indian cinema, Madhubala appeared in over 70 films during the 1950s, including classics like Mughal-e-Azam and Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi. Her untimely demise at the age of 36 makes this biopic a deeply emotional and challenging project—one that could prove to be a defining moment in Sara Arjun’s career.
