Marriage Controversy: An uproar broke out at a banquet hall in Nahtaur Nagar in Bijnor district of Uttar Pradesh when the bride refused to marry just before the wedding rituals. It is being told that the bride was not satisfied with the makeup items brought by the groom’s side, due to which she flatly refused to get married.

The procession reached the banquet hall

This incident is to the arranged marriage between a young man resident of Mohalla Islam Nagar of Noorpur area and a girl from Jasmaura village of Nahtaur. On the night of 8th April, the wedding procession had reached the banquet hall on Dhampur Road and preparations for the wedding were going on. Meanwhile, the atmosphere suddenly changed due to the bride’s refusal.

Stone pelting started from both sides

After the bride’s decision, an argument started between the two parties, which gradually turned into a dispute and then a scuffle. Within no time the situation worsened so much that stone pelting started from both sides. During this, the glass of the groom’s car was broken and the vehicle was damaged.

People were taken into custody and sent to the police station

According to eyewitnesses, a member of the groom’s party was also beaten up in the clash. On receiving information, police reached the spot and controlled the situation. Some people were detained and sent to the police station. According to the police, no written complaint (Tahrir) has been given yet by any party. Further action will be taken upon receiving the complaint. It is being told that the bride and groom are to the same family.

The marriage procession returned without the bride

Later late in the night an agreement was reached between the two parties in the presence of responsible people of the society. As per the agreement, the marriage was canceled and the groom’s party returned without the bride along with the wedding procession. It was also decided that the expenses incurred in the marriage would be reimbursed by the groom’s side. After this the procession left back in the night itself.
