Return of Artemis-2: American space agency NASA’s mission Artemis 2 has been successfully completed. All four astronauts involved in the mission have returned safely to Earth. NASA’s spacecraft landed on the San Diego coast on Saturday morning. The space agency said that the people involved in this mission traveled more than 690,000 miles. After the success of this 10-day mission, NASA has started preparing for Armetis-3. In the current mission, the astronauts only passed by the Moon, but in the next mission, the astronauts will land on the Moon.
After the astronauts returned, NASA shared a video of the spacecraft’s landing. Along with this, it was written on the
Mission postponed due to hydrogen leak
The mission was originally scheduled for February, but had to be postponed due to a hydrogen fuel leak. After repairing the leak, a blockage in the helium pressure line caused the rocket to be taken down again for repairs late last month. The rocket was brought back to the launch site about a week and a half ago, while the American-Canadian team reached here on Friday. This mission is different from the historical ‘Apollo’ program, under which only men were sent to the Moon between 1968 and 1972. After 53 years, the crew of ‘Artemis-2’ going to the Moon now includes a woman, a black astronaut and a non-American member.
NASA had 6 days time
NASA had the first six days of April to launch ‘Artemis-2’. If the launch could not take place during this period, NASA would have to wait till the end of April. However, NASA successfully launched Artemis-2 during this time. This was the first manned lunar mission in more than 50 years. This mission is the beginning of NASA’s effort to land on the moon in two years. The 32-story rocket carrying three American and one Canadian astronauts lifted off from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center, where tens of thousands of people had gathered to watch the beginning of this new era. Nearby streets and beaches were also packed with people, reminiscent of the Apollo lunar missions of the 1960s and 70s. This is NASA’s biggest step yet towards establishing a permanent presence on the Moon.
flight from florida
Artemis 2 took off from the same launch site in Florida that had sent Apollo astronauts to the moon long before. The few who are still alive among them also encouraged the new generation flying on the Space Launch System rocket. Artemis 2 Commander Reed Wiseman led the mission into space with a cry of “Let’s go to the Moon!”, accompanied by pilots Victor Glover, Christina Koch and Jeremy Hansen of Canada.
What did you do in 10 days?
The astronauts remained near Earth for the first 25 hours of their 10-day journey. After testing the capsule in orbit around the Earth, they turned on the main engine, which took them to the Moon. They neither stopped at nor orbited the Moon, as the first lunar astronauts, Apollo 8, did on Christmas Eve 1968. His capsule passed near the Moon and after moving 6,400 kilometers beyond it, took a U-turn and landed directly in the Pacific Ocean. With this he became the person who went the farthest.
Water and toilet facilities for the first time in space
More than three years have passed since the launch of Artemis 1. There were no humans aboard the Artemis 1 capsule at that time. It did not have other essential facilities like life saving equipment, water supply system and toilet. These systems were used for the first time in space through Artemis 2, due to which the risk was high. This was the reason why NASA waited a full day before sending Wiseman and his team on a four-day trip to the moon and a four-day return trip.
