While speaking to Zoom during the promotions of Dacoit, Anurag Kashyap addressed the pattern of selective praise in the industry. He acknowledged that many people have pointed out to him that he praises a lot of films. But, receives little praise in return. His response was simple and candid. He said he loves films, and when he likes something, he says so, adding that he cannot force others to do the same.
His co-star Mrunal Thakurchimed in. She agreed that there are very few people in the industry who genuinely and openly praise others. Anurag Kashyap, then made a pointed observation. He said that in Bollywood the support and praise tend to come only after something becomes successful. It is a straightforward observation but one that cuts to the heart of how recognition works in the film industry.
