New Delhi: Mumbai Indians (MI) will lock horns with the defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in match no.20 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 on Sunday, April 12. Both teams lost against the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in their respective last outings and will be hoping to return to winning ways in the blockbuster clash, which is set to be played at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Mumbai Indians lost to Rajasthan Royals by 27 runs in a rain-curtailed contest in Guwahati in their last game after being on the receiving end of an onslaught from 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Yashasvai Jasiwal. MI failed to chase down a huge target of 151 runs in the 11-overs-a-side contest after a top-order collapse.

MI have so far won only one of their three matches in IPL 2026. They won their opener against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and have since slipped to defeat against Delhi Capitals and the Rajasthan Royals in their next two games. RCB, on the other hand, have made a strong start to their campaign in IPL 2026.

After beating the Sunrisers Hyderabad and Chennai Super Kings in their first two games of the season, RCB slipped to their first defeat in IPL 2026 against RR on Friday. Soooryavanshi smashed a blistering 26-ball 78 to help RR chase down the target of 202 runs comfortably with two overs to spare, to hand RCB their first defeat of the season.

Mumbai Indians hold the advantage in the head-to-head record between the two sides in the IPL. The two teams have played 34 matches in the IPL, with the Mumbai Indians winning 19 of them. RCB have managed 14 wins in 34 meetings against MI. One match between the two teams ended in a tie.
