New Delhi: Vaibhav Sooryavanshi continued his stellar run for the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 with a blistering 26-ball 78 against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati on Friday. Sooryavanshi took the RCB bowlers to the cleaners, smashing them across all parts of the ground.
RR’s young sensation smashed Josh Hazlewood for a six and three fours off the four deliveries he faced from the Australian pacer against RCB. He also tore into the experienced Bhuvneshwar Kumar, scoring 24 runs off just 9 balls against the veteran Indian pacer in the game.
Irrespective of their reputation, the RCB bowlers were handed similar treatment by Sooryavanshi, who went bonkers with the bat. Earlier in the season, the 15-year-old dominated Jasprit Bumrah in his first face-off against the Mumbai Indians and India pacer, smashing him for two sixes in his very first over in the game.
Sooryavanshi, who has already proved he is a special talent with his exploits in the IPL so far, continues to toy around with world-class bowlers in the league. The 15-year-old left-hander has been unstoppable for RR, playing his aggressive brand of cricket every game. When asked about his success against the top bowlers like Bumrah and Hazlewood, Sooryavanshi said he plays the ball, not the bowler.
The 15-year-old, who rarely shies away from taking on a bowler right from the first ball in the game, revealed his secret to success. Though he admitted that the bowler’s reputation is in the back of his mind, but he sticks to his natural game.
“Back of the mind, it is there (on who is bowling). I try to play the ball and not the bowler, and play my game. My dad, my coaches, my guardian Romi sir here, they keep telling me that the journey is long, and to focus on my process and my game, without diverting my mind to different things,” Sooryavanshi said after starring with the bat in RR’s six-wicket win against RCB on Friday.

The 15-year-old has so far scored 200 runs in 4 matches for RR at an average of 50 and a brilliant strike rate of 266.66, including two fifties.
Sooryavanshi has hit 18 sixes and as many fours in the IPL 2026 so far and is currently the leading run-getter in the tournament. On Friday, his 26-ball 78 against RCB was laced with seven sixes and eight fours.
