The nation is in mourning following the passing of legendary playback singer Asha Bhosle, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi leading tributes and remembering her as one of India’s most iconic and versatile voices.



Expressing deep sorrow, the Prime Minister shared a heartfelt message on X, saying he was “deeply saddened” by her demise. He paid tribute to her remarkable musical journey that spanned several decades and left an indelible mark on India’s cultural heritage.



“Her extraordinary musical journey enriched our culture and touched countless hearts across the world,” Modi said, noting how her voice became synonymous with generations of Indian cinema and music.



Highlighting her unmatched versatility, he added that whether it was soulful melodies or energetic compositions, Asha Bhosle’s voice carried a timeless brilliance that resonated with audiences across eras.

 

Sharing a personal note, Modi said he would always cherish his interactions with the legendary singer, reflecting the admiration and warmth she inspired beyond her music.
