India mourns the death of Asha Bhosle with heartfelt tributes pouring in from various quarters. Among them is a tear-jerking tribute by none other than the legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, who not only remembered her music but also how her family was a part of his own.
Sachin penned:
A deeply sad day for India, and for music lovers across the world. For us, Asha Tai was family. Today, words feel too small for the loss we feel. One moment the heart falls silent, and the next, it drifts through the countless melodies she gifted all of us. It feels as though time itself has paused. Yet through her eternal songs, she will remain timeless forever. Thank you, Tai, for filling our lives with warmth, grace, and unforgettable music. We will miss you beyond words, Asha Tai.
It was not the first time that Sachin was remembering a legendary singer; he had previously addressed Lata Mangeshkar as his 'Ai'. Their family shared a good bond.
The connection between the legendary cricketers and the veteran singer is not only through respect and admiration for music but also through shared personal relationships, blood relations and of course, their musical connections.
The names of the legend have a special association, Sachin was named after the famous Bollywood singer Sachin Dev Burman, and it was his father’s favorite artist who later married Asha Bhosle, which would have strengthened their bond over the years further.
Asha Bhosle was present at the wedding reception of Arjun Tendulkar earlier this year.

Asha Bhosle had even during Sachin's playing career influenced him. Sachin has said many a time how he and Lata's music was a huge influence in his life.
However with her death a chapter in Indian music seems to have closed. But as Sachin said in his tribute, her songs will be there forever to move our hearts.
