Soil Mobile App: The government has taken yet another step toward making farming smarter and easier for farmers. Now, farmers will no longer need to make repeated trips to laboratories or wait for weeks to determine the health of their soil; the government has officially launched a dedicated Soil Mobile App called 'e-Farms.' With the help of this app, farmers can easily access information regarding their soil's quality—as well as the appropriate fertilizers and nutrients required—directly through their mobile phones while standing right in their fields. Let's explore this in greater detail...

How Does the App Work?
This app has been developed by the ICAR-IISS (Indian Institute of Soil Science), Bhopal, and is based on data specific to the state of Madhya Pradesh. To utilize this app, users must first download it. Once installed, farmers can use the app to upload photographs of their fields, which instantly provides information regarding specific nutrient deficiencies present in the soil. Additionally, the app offers farmers comprehensive guidance on the correct usage and application of appropriate fertilizers and manures. This helps reduce farming costs while simultaneously boosting agricultural production.

Launched at the 'Unnat Krishi Mahotsav 2026'
The 'e-Farms' Soil Mobile App was officially launched during the 'Unnat Krishi Mahotsav 2026' (Advanced Agriculture Festival), held in Raisen, Madhya Pradesh. The event was attended by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, and Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. During the program, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan stated that this app would make it significantly easier to apply the correct quantity of fertilizers to the soil. Furthermore, he urged farmers to refrain from applying fertilizers indiscriminately to their fields, noting that such practices not only result in financial losses but also fail to provide any tangible benefit to the soil itself.

A New Government Initiative: The 'Kisan Mitra Chhadi' (Farmer's Friend Stick)
Incidents involving the appearance of snakes in agricultural fields are frequently reported across the country. On many occasions, these encounters prove to be fatal. To address this specific issue, Indian scientists have developed a device known as the 'Kisan Mitra Chhadi.' This device is capable of easily detecting the presence of snakes or other venomous creatures within a radius of 100 meters. As soon as the button located on this stick is pressed, it begins to vibrate upon sensing danger. This vibration serves as an alert, warning the farmer to remain vigilant. Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan shared this information during the 'Unnat Krishi Mahotsav'.
