New Delhi: Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who has created ripples in world cricket with his flamboyant batting skills, is likely to make his India debut soon. At just 15 years of age, Sooryavanshi has become the talk of the town which has led to the Indian selectors thinking about handing the Bihar boy national team debut soon, reports the Indian Express.
The report further mentions that the explosive batter is likely to be picked for India’s T20I tour to Ireland, which will take place after the culmination of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 in June. The short series seems to be ideal for his big break which is scheduled before the white-ball tour of England.
Sooryavanshi in line to break Tendulkar’s recordIf the dream debut for Sooryavanshi happens as stated, he will script a record of becoming the youngest debutant for India at the age of 15. The left-handed batter will thus surpass the legendary Sachin Tendulkar, who made his India debut at the age of 16.
A source close to the Indian cricket board confirmed to Indian Express that he is in line for the Ireland tour as the selectors have shortlisted his name many other players who will be the part T20I series. Currently busy in the IPL for Rajasthan Royals (RR), the southpaw has pushed some of the best bowlers in the world against the wall with his fierce batting skills.
Sooryavanshi impressed in the last edition of the cash-rich league and continues to do so in the ongoing 19th edition as well. From Jasprit Bumrah to Josh Hazlewood, the best in world cricket have been taken aback by his hard-hitting skills.
The report also mentions that if he continues to do the good work for the Royals in IPL, he will not only be handed a debut in the Ireland series but also be picked for the tour of Zimbabwe later this year, considering that both the teams are a slightly lesser competitive opposition in front of India.
