The summer season is gradually increasing, and during this time people take the help of Ayurvedic remedies to avoid heatstroke and heat. One of the prominent remedies is Gond Katira, which is famous for its cooling properties. However, it is not beneficial for everyone. Let us know for whom Gond Katira can be harmful.
During periods: Women should not consume Gond Katira during periods, especially if they already have pain or cramps. Its extremely cold nature can lower the body temperature, leading to stomach ache, cramps or bleeding problems.
Low blood pressure: People whose blood pressure is lower than normal should consume Gond Katira with caution. Due to its cooling effect, people with low BP may experience laziness, dizziness or weakness.
IBS and Bloating: While Gond Katira helps in providing relief from constipation, but if you have the problem of flatulence or irritable bowel syndrome, then its consumption can increase the problem for you. In some cases, it may cause gas and discomfort in the stomach instead of improving digestion.
– Gond Katira should never be eaten dry. It should be soaked in water overnight or for at least 7-8 hours, until it swells and becomes jelly like.
– When you consume it, drink enough water throughout the day, because it absorbs the fiber. Due to lack of water, it can get stuck in the intestines and cause constipation.
– It is sufficient to take 1 to 2 spoons of soaked Gond Katira once a day.
