Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday described the Delhi–Baghpat–Saharanpur–Dehradun Economic Corridor as a major boost for the economy of western Uttar Pradesh, saying it will significantly reduce travel time between Saharanpur, Delhi, and Dehradun.

Calling the corridor’s inauguration a historic milestone, the Chief Minister thanked Narendra Modi for driving the project forward. He said the corridor would not only improve connectivity but also help local industries access global markets via the national capital.

“This corridor will play a key role in promoting Saharanpur’s woodwork, Meerut’s sports goods, and the region’s agricultural produce,” Adityanath said. “It will open new avenues for industrial growth, investment, and employment, strengthening the vision of a ‘double-engine’ government.”

The Chief Minister also acknowledged the contributions of Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari and the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) in executing the project.

Highlighting its wider impact, Adityanath said the corridor would benefit districts such as Saharanpur, Shamli, Muzaffarnagar, Meerut, and Baghpat by improving logistics and market access. He noted that farmers and manufacturers in the region would gain better opportunities to sell their produce, including sugarcane, fruits, vegetables, and food grains, at national and international levels.

He added that Uttar Pradesh is emerging as a hub for infrastructure, investment, and employment, driven by strong governance and rapid development. “Major projects are progressing seamlessly in states like Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Delhi under the double-engine government,” he said.

Marking the occasion of the birth anniversary of B. R. Ambedkar, the Chief Minister paid tribute to the architect of the Indian Constitution and highlighted the government’s initiatives to honor leaders associated with social justice. He said infrastructure improvements, including boundary walls and facilities at memorial sites, would be supported by the state.

Adityanath also outlined ongoing development projects in the region, including the establishment of a university named after Maa Shakumbhari in Saharanpur, construction of an airport terminal in Sarsawa, and the rapid progress of the upcoming film city in Jewar.

He emphasized that the new corridor would ease travel challenges that previously affected the route, especially during monsoons when connectivity was often disrupted. With improved infrastructure, the region is expected to witness faster movement of people and goods, boosting economic activity.

The Chief Minister concluded by stating that the government is focused on developing industrial and housing clusters in western UP, which will generate large-scale employment and provide better returns for farmers by linking their produce to major markets through projects like the Ganga Expressway.

Several dignitaries, including Anandiben Patel, Deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak, along with other ministers and public representatives, were present at the event.
