Dehradun: The weather in Uttarakhand remained dry and hot on Wednesday, April 15, with no signs of rain.

According to the Meteorological Center, most parts of the state will continue to face clear skies and rising temperatures, making life difficult for residents in both plains and hills.

Heatwave grips the plains

For several days, the absence of rain has caused temperatures to climb steadily. In Dehradun, bright sunshine since morning made the heat uncomfortable. People struggled to step out during the day as the strong sunlight added to the intensity of the heat.

Roorkee recorded the highest temperature in the state at 36.5°C, while Mussoorie remained the coolest at 22.6°C. This sharp difference shows how the plains are heating up rapidly, though even the hill stations are not spared.

Mountains also feeling the heat

Traditionally cooler regions like Mussoorie, Chamoli, and Rudraprayag also experienced rising temperatures. The Meteorological Department reported that maximum temperatures in the mountains have increased by 2–3°C compared to normal. On Tuesday, bright sunshine in these areas made the weather hotter than usual, surprising residents and tourists alike.

Nighttime relief

While daytime temperatures are soaring, nights remain relatively cooler. The Meteorological Center noted that nighttime temperatures are still below normal, offering some relief to people after hot days. However, the overall trend remains worrying as the heatwave continues to intensify.

Weather change expected

The Meteorological Department has predicted that the weather may change from Thursday, April 16. Partly cloudy skies and light rain are expected in mountainous districts such as Pithoragarh, Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, and Bageshwar. This could bring a slight drop in temperatures and provide relief to residents and tourists in the hills.

Impact on daily life

In Dehradun and other plains, the rising heat has already begun to affect daily routines. Shopkeepers, office-goers, and laborers working outdoors are struggling with the harsh sun. Health experts advise people to stay hydrated, avoid direct sunlight during peak hours, and wear light cotton clothing.

Uttarakhand’s weather on April 15 showed no relief from the heatwave. With Dehradun recording strong sunlight and Roorkee touching 36.5°C, the plains are facing intense heat. Even the mountains are warming up, though a slight change is expected from Thursday. Until then, residents must brace for more hot days.
