On Tuesday morning, the essence of Baisakhi was beautifully captured in Mohali as actors Ammy Virk and Roopi Gill unveiled the poster for their upcoming film, Zakhma Toh Chardikala Tak. This event transcended mere promotion, embodying themes of gratitude, faith, and community spirit. Ammy, embodying the humility typical of Punjabis, appeared grounded and relatable. The day commenced with a devotional atmosphere, featuring shabad kirtan, which both actors attended with deep respect, setting a spiritual tone for the occasion. Roopi Gill, dressed in traditional attire and with her head covered, radiated warmth as she greeted attendees and expressed her enthusiasm for the film.
The poster launch represented a fresh start—not just for the film but also for a cause that resonates deeply with the team. In a meaningful gesture, Ammy distributed cheques to farmers from Moga whose crops had suffered damage due to a recent hailstorm, highlighting a commitment that extends beyond the realm of cinema.
Ammy spoke candidly about the charitable act, stating, “You can label it a promotional stunt if you wish, but we must lend a hand.” He emphasized that the intention behind the action is what truly matters. His philosophy revolves around ensuring the comfort and dignity of others, keeping them in chardikala (high spirits) regardless of their circumstances.
He also shared how fellow artist Ranjit Bawa motivated him to give back during tough times, recalling Bawa's response after the Pulwama attack. “Witnessing his actions inspired me to contribute as well,” Ammy remarked.
With a blend of humor and sincerity, he recounted a personal story about a charitable act that didn’t go as planned. He remembered signing a cheque for ₹7.5 lakh for someone in need, only to discover later—after a reminder from his wife—that his account held just ₹2.5 lakh. “She advised me to pray that the cheque wouldn’t be cashed until Monday,” he chuckled. “I prayed earnestly for that to happen. By Saturday, I had managed to gather the funds and more. Akal Purukh preserved my honor.”
Directed by Amarjeet Singh Sarao and produced by Pinky Dhaliwal, the film promises to take viewers on an emotional journey, as suggested by its poignant title. While specific details remain undisclosed, the simple yet striking poster featuring the lead actors in traditional clothing has already piqued interest.
This event, merging cinema with compassion, served as a powerful reminder that storytelling and social responsibility can coexist—especially on a day that celebrates resilience, harvest, and hope.
The film is set to release in theaters on May 29, 2026.
