New Delhi: Chennai Super Kings have been dealt with a big blow as pacer Khaleel Ahmed has been ruled out of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 due to a quadriceps injury. Ahmed, who was part of all the five games CSK have played thus far, reported pain in his right hip during the previous game against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on April 14.

Khaleel was one of the consistent performers for CSK in the initial stage of the 19th edition of cash-rich league. An IPL source confirmed that it is a grade two tear and rehabilitation will take at least 10-12 weeks. Khaleel delivered a crucial powerplay spell of 1/17 against the KKR and has taken a total of two wickets in this season till now.

The left arm pacer has played 11 ODIs and 18 T20s for India with the last appearance coming in July 2024.
